Fitness icon, Jack LaLanne died last week at the age of 96 of respiratory complications arising from pneumonia. His fitness formulae will stay alive with the still popular Jack LaLanne Power Juicer. Former bodybuilder Arnold Schwarzenegger, who was a big fan of the godfather of fitness expressed his condolences and was a part of the funeral ceremony. He called him “an apostle for fitness”.
Even in his last days, Jack LaLanne remained fit and worked out for two hours a day. He brought weight training into the fitness circle at a time when it was a taboo for athletes and women. His belief that “inactivity is a killer” was well received by America and through his chain of gyms and products; he helped thousands of Americans achieve their fitness goals.
Jack LaLanne died in his Morro Bay home in California with friends and relatives next to him. His is survived by his wife of 51 years, Elaine, who was also his workout partner, and three children – daughter Yvonne, and sons Dan and Jon. “I have not only lost my husband and a great American icon, but the best friend and most loving partner anyone could ever hope for,” Elaine said in a statement.
Though Jack LaLanne has died, Tristar products have decided to continue advertising and marketing the Power Juicer that gives people that hope of someday becoming like Arnold Schwarzenegger. |
